Wonderfish, i could have a field day on this: quote:-Am i old fashioned in thinking that you should fulfill your fixtures,
But i shall take it as if comes from your heart, and of the old school mentality such as myself. Ones personal views and beliefes are not always in tandom with the clubs.
Best of luck today at Lymm, or no luck if your in the 2nds at Beaver Park :oP

I remember being just 17 and travelling to play on the wing for our first team against Halifax with just 13 players to honour a fixture.

We got walloped but Halifax really appreciated us going all the way down there when we could have justifiably cried off and as a result we had a great night out.

Good point Mr Murray.

Most clubs at this level of the game have done it at some stage. It's inevitable. At the end of the day it doesn't matter either. You're in the next round of the cup and by the sound of it some of your 1st teamers got a game yesterday against the Heughers.

It's normally the county cups that suffer with this, because of the money and kudos involved it's quite rare teams drop out of this cup.

I think the point of most peoples argument is that it seems to have been a pretty weak reason for withdrawing, although the decision was obviously not taken lightly.

Yes the opinions stated above ar purely my own and not those of either West hartlepool RUFC or Driffield RUFC.

I really do think that clubs should fulfill their fixtures with the strongest team available to them; I hate the way it has become acceptable to cry off because of a weakened side. It riles me and if everybody just accepts it it will become even more commonplace.

I think the problem is that not only do players not get a game - and some squad players a chance to impress but clubs at our level lose much needed revenue.

ie Match sponsorship, Gate receipts, Bar takings and Points West revenue while the team that cries off saves £400 on the bus costs.

Where is the justice ?

if they are old enough to play 2nd team, they are old enough to play 1st team. either submit a teamto play or be disciplined by the cupcomittee
