Great performance....have to give another mention to the Boatmans who were a different class today but everyone played their part in a great win. Painter looks like another fine product of the youth system and if he keeps running in tries at this rate it can only be a good thing.

R&O...not sure about your comments on the rub of the green on your own message board. Rovers couldn't buy a lineout win and that was the crux of the loss...not a loose ball rolling here or there.
Our handling in the loose was excellent and your forwards were out on their feet most of the second half.

Lilley's "try" came from a messed up backs move and the (deserved) pen try was down to individual skill from Foreman. Other than that weren't many socring opportunities that I can recall....
You clearly have good players in the backs but they can't do much without the ball. Don't remember Jones having a run all game for instance....
O and as for the fan on half way....hope it wasn't DP...I thought his comments on the Samoan prop were quite amusing :-)

Bring on Boxing Day....lets hope we're still towards the top of the table by then!

Very fair report. I would not get carried away by the ganme thouigh as Rovers are obvioulsy a but off the pace at the moment with Westgarth getting to know his squad. i THINK THEY WILL BE A DIFFERENT PROPOSITION WHEN WE PLAY AT THE fRIARAGE NEXT YEAR. aT LEAST i HOPE THEY ARE FOR THEIR SAKE.

Evening El Pedalo

Can't believe it's so quiet on here.........everyone must be waiting to get into work, or school in the case of Monkey Boy, and use the firm's time instead.........................

I had to read my report and post on our site again to make sure I had indeed written the comments about our lineout woe, not using our backs, your pack being better etc. El Pedalo had me thinking I hadn't written those words...............but was suggesting I ought to have done.

By the rub of the green, I meant that there were a few occasions when the bounce of the ball, or a flipped up pass etc evaded Rovers, bounced West's way, and near the end, an inside pass bounced off a West player (accidental offside but wasn't given) when had it reached the intended recipient we may have ran on to score. It's not a big deal and it didn't affect the result but when things aren't going your way these things tend to go against you.

I think we would be disappointed to have conceded the Tighe and the second Son of a Painterman (wasn't that an old sixties' song?) tries, these were due to poor defending and the bounce for Davies at the end couldn't have been kinder. Having said that, if those three were crossed off, we could have had no complaints in they had been replaced by ones for Carr and Son of a Painterman if Carr hadn't knocked on and if Chocky had passed instead of going on his own.

West did deserve the win but you must be happy that we made it easier for you by not playing to our potential. It was that flat, I can't remember Ray Sutherland having to warn a single player let alone sort out a free for all.......................strange indeed.

Re your vocal supporter on halfway, he was solely responsible for a raft of Rovers' fans seeking sanctuary at other parts of the touchline. One couple, who turned up at the start of the second half only lasted 5 minutes and then called for ear plugs........rumour has it he was lucky not to have been "accosted" by a former Rover, who doesn't suffer fools gladly, towards the end when he started to raise the volume even more (we thought that would have been impossible) and was getting a bit out of order.

Sing when you're winning? Well of course it always sounds better when that happens..................but, as intimated by Saggy, some modesty and humility doesn't go amiss too.

For the record, I don't think West will get promoted and I don't expect Rovers to go down either.

A word of praise on your cabins. I have got to say I was pleasantly surprised at how good the lounge was. Well done to those who did the work. Service in the bar was poor, though, and after one drink I couldn't be bothered to fight my way to the bar again............meant I missed out on the pint DP promised me.......and went to join fellow fans on suicide watch down at the Friarage.

Rover & Out, you should have eased your way into the 'Ams Bar' then. The service was super quick and the banter from the handsome barman was great:oP:oP:oP:oD:oD

don't think the defending was that poor for the second painter try he just left your defenders for dead :-)

they didn't have a clu where he was going!

As for the bar - the main bar had mega problems only resolved by calling cellar services - the new bar worked perfectly fine!

good win for west. Thought that Jonny Boatman was absolutely superb yesterday and secured his place as the best back row in the town in my opinion.

Gav Painter is doing really well. His second try was amazing, he had a bit of space when he got the ball but there were two defenders in good position. He didn't seem to do much, but just a little swerve in his run wrongfooted them both. Great try.

If rovers can sort out their lineout they should be able to avoid relegation, although its a concern for them that our scrum was pushing them around all day, when our scrum has been second best against all the other teams we've played this season.

I could see Rovers struggling a bit, they have some dangerous backs but need to be able to secure some ball for them.

wonderfish...tell us about the boro game? are they not as good as results indicate or did you just play really well?

I don't think they knew what had hit them; our pack stepped up big time. They won the toss and elected to play into the gale force wind and started well, running hard up front. We held them out for ten with some massive hits and they seemed to go into their shell. With our kicker slotting points from all over (including in his own half) we stormed to a 27 - 0 half time lead.

Second half they had the wind but our defence was superb and I think they tried to play catch up too early when kicking to the corners would have served them much better.

I think they're a good side but just walked into fortress Kellythorpe on the wrong day. Their centres looked dangerous when they were given the ball but i think they expected to be able to win through forward runners and seemed to have no plan b.

Now then AQ

I might just do that on Boxing Day.......do the Ams hand out pint chits to (currently) suicidal Rovers fans?

Presumably no trainers, denim or discount clothing from Dalton Park is permitted in said longe?:oD:oD:oD:oD
