Evening El Pedalo
Can't believe it's so quiet on here.........everyone must be waiting to get into work, or school in the case of Monkey Boy, and use the firm's time instead.........................
I had to read my report and post on our site again to make sure I had indeed written the comments about our lineout woe, not using our backs, your pack being better etc. El Pedalo had me thinking I hadn't written those words...............but was suggesting I ought to have done.
By the rub of the green, I meant that there were a few occasions when the bounce of the ball, or a flipped up pass etc evaded Rovers, bounced West's way, and near the end, an inside pass bounced off a West player (accidental offside but wasn't given) when had it reached the intended recipient we may have ran on to score. It's not a big deal and it didn't affect the result but when things aren't going your way these things tend to go against you.
I think we would be disappointed to have conceded the Tighe and the second Son of a Painterman (wasn't that an old sixties' song?) tries, these were due to poor defending and the bounce for Davies at the end couldn't have been kinder. Having said that, if those three were crossed off, we could have had no complaints in they had been replaced by ones for Carr and Son of a Painterman if Carr hadn't knocked on and if Chocky had passed instead of going on his own.
West did deserve the win but you must be happy that we made it easier for you by not playing to our potential. It was that flat, I can't remember Ray Sutherland having to warn a single player let alone sort out a free for all.......................strange indeed.
Re your vocal supporter on halfway, he was solely responsible for a raft of Rovers' fans seeking sanctuary at other parts of the touchline. One couple, who turned up at the start of the second half only lasted 5 minutes and then called for ear plugs........rumour has it he was lucky not to have been "accosted" by a former Rover, who doesn't suffer fools gladly, towards the end when he started to raise the volume even more (we thought that would have been impossible) and was getting a bit out of order.
Sing when you're winning? Well of course it always sounds better when that happens..................but, as intimated by Saggy, some modesty and humility doesn't go amiss too.
For the record, I don't think West will get promoted and I don't expect Rovers to go down either.
A word of praise on your cabins. I have got to say I was pleasantly surprised at how good the lounge was. Well done to those who did the work. Service in the bar was poor, though, and after one drink I couldn't be bothered to fight my way to the bar again............meant I missed out on the pint DP promised me.......and went to join fellow fans on suicide watch down at the Friarage.
