Saturdays game

Another interesting write up from Mr Kelly last night on the significance of this game.
I think I remember reading somewhere a record of all the games played between West and Rovers in other words how many won drawn and lost. I think Rovers were ahead but we have been catching up in recent years.
Anyone know?

Now then WPA

I think the Bugle's stats will show West have a lot of ground to make up.......take out the succession of wins achieved when you went professional and the gap would be greater.

Could there be a case for also discounting extra time wins?:oD:oD:oD:nrj:nrj:nrj

Weren't we thumping you in the 80s and early 90s and we weren't professional then!

What a great system - so if we dismiss every match when Rovers have ever beaten west, then by my calculations... west have a 100% record against them.

seriously, to make it fair, lets look at the last two seasons when we've been in the same division and so should be roughly the same standard. in that time West have won 5 out of 6.

It is great to see the friendly banter between you two clubs. Surely Mikey Boys post sums it up. You are quite close. From a distance, we enjoyed playing you two clubs as much as any. We thought you were both very physical teams on the field (thats polite for dirty but I'm sure you would say the same about us). However, in the clubhouse the most sociable of all in NE2.

Keep it up and keep up the banter. it is great. If you want to see similar in North 1 web site go on ours and Altrincham kersals.

I look forward to renewing aquaitance with one or both of your fine clubs next year in North 1 (especially FRLE who, although Rovers, is obviously a Yorkie and therefore a top man!!!)

Hey Up Monkey Boy

The proof of the pudding over the last 125 years will be evident in the Bugle tomorrow night.

I tell you what, go to the bookies and put your life's savings on the Rovers coming out on top in the stats..............................................you know it makes sense.

ok, so now you want to go on the full 125 years when a couple of messages ago you wanted to remove a large chunk of them?

from R&O's match preview...

"Throw in a 12-7 West win on Boxing Day 2004 when Rovers seemed to do everything but score.."

you did everything but score? So unlucky. I think I'll give you that one. I think you're right, scoring is overated:-D

Hey up Monkey Boy

Try reading the post again. The point made was, take out some of the one sided games when you were in Divs 1 and 2 and you wouldn't have closed the gap by much at all. (I'm assuming there is a gap.....).

You might also like to cast your mind back to those halcyon days of yore when you were lording it and think about those Westies who thought it would be better to drop the Rovers fixture and play what was then Gosforth instead...........now that would have been a misguided move....unless you still fancy taking on the Falcons.....

To bite on your last post, which I am assuming you are waiting for, you must be the only person from that Boxing Day that doesn't admit that we camped on your line almost all of the second half, aided by 20 odd penalties but 'did everything but score.'

But how many of those penalties would perhaps have been turned into yellow cards in a league game?

don't forget that when R&O says 20 odd penalties it would actually be less than 10. Remember the "controversial Jonny Boatman try" that came after Rovers were penalised over and over again the full length of the field? Crazy numbers were thrown around as to how many penalties it was.10? 20? When DP looked at the video it had been 2.

Hey Up Monkey

I reckon we should open this one up to Saggy and see what the official count was in the Bugle.......over to you Saggy...

Evening Monkey Boy

Well, I never, a most impressive set of stats in the Bugle tonight.......

if you didn't put that money on my tip then you've missed out on quite a windfall........

Well 125 years of games and stats don't lie.....it's official, win, lose or draw tomorrow, it's the White Shirts that are the best.......

Oh, and don't forget we are also all time record Durham Senior Cup winners, Saggy might be able to correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think West have even made it to double figures.......

but statistics only prove the past - neither of the sides out tommorrow are in the same class of those of years ago - but there again its a differnt game too..

The stats that matter to those of us involved will be the league table tomorrow night - 8 points for us and a decent points difference margin.
