Interesting point

Roy Kelly made an interesting observation that 15 of the squad last week were home grown talent. Presuming trhat the Boatman Bros and Brett are the odd ones out.
Bet there is no other "senior" club n in the area can boast that although Horden might run close.

I wonder if he could also work out how many of the current Rovers set up are West "grown" too!

Is that something we would want to give credit too?

Only joking.

The only non Driffield grown players in our team are the 2 Aussies, the 1 kiwi, the Zimbabwean and the Wonderfish. The rest are Driffield born and bred. .

Very fair point about Horden, they must top the league in terms of their own boys. Of this weekend's squad, I think only two are outsiders.

Regarding Rovers, at Driffield, 13 out of the 18 were lads who came through the Rovers ranks so not a bad ratio.

And before my good friend West girl (correctly) says "well such and such played for West Under whatevers" I'd point out that messrs Tighe and Tones also played for Rovers at points of their youth rugby before any numbers arguments start up which may need Carol Vorderman to sort out.

I think driffield's ratio of 13 from 18 home grown is excellent; over 66% in fact!

More salient perhaps, is the amount of Hartlepool grown players playing at higher levels for financial gain or the kudos of playing at the higher level.
