HBL
He does actually say "refused" to pay players. Think he is referring to the pre professional era when some clubs were dishing out "boot money" and the like and we point blank refused. Boot mopney was something I never got, cos my talent to boot size ratio was nowhere near good enough. :nrj

There you go biting at his wind ups again.
No doubt next week he'll be on here arguing the toss with our friends from East Yorkshire following his trip to Driffield.

"and then cant even win at places like Old Crossleyans who nobody had ever heard of"

Rovers have played Old Crossleyans quite a few times as they also played in North 1 and 2 at the same time as yourselves in the early 90's. And I'm fairly sure you played them again in the North East leagues after some relegations.

Surely as staunch a supporter of Rovers as you SCH should know this :-D

Andrew dixon has been offered "boot money" to help solve your (rovers) front row crisis.

As for west, we had the pleasure of playing at there club last week and that is exactly what is was with a lot of familiar faces all obviously pulling in the right direction to build for the future.

In previous years clubs like ours would have benefitted from the quality that they have in the 2nd XV as they were pushed out by imports, unfortunatly for ourselves that is no longer the case.

Good luck to west

My opinion, or your opinion?? It's not boot money any more, apparently it's all gone pro.

What front row crisis??

Would love to know how much Jimmy Campbell has offered Dicko to come to Rovers so that he would lose his own place in the first team. Last time I saw Jimmy he could barely afford a pint.

is SCH even aware that Rovers have lost by substantial margins in both their games this season? (and 5 out of the last 6 against west if we're making it personal):-D

Now that Rovers have got some Kiwis are they going to stop pestering Henry?

CB,

We've never pestered Henry, there's certainly never been any official approach, he might just be saying that so you all make him feel important.

A very simplistic and sily view IMO but then what do I know.

Depends what you mean by pestering. Every time we are down the town and meet Rovers he gets it and its often been discussed on here.
Anyhow how did the Kiwis do at Drifield? Not much judging by the score.

they came off the bench; one of them looked useful the back row.

Rovers backs will score some tries this year but the forwards seem underpowered.

Wonderfish,

I enquired of your whereabouts yesterday to buy you a pint, told the flanker with a beard to tell your lads if you made yourself known to me I'd have got one in. I even rang saggy to ask your surname but like a good reporter he wouldn't reveal it.

Our forwards were underpowered is probably an apt statement having lost Mark Power before kick off then losing Simon Hall and Darren Smith in the first half disrupted things.

Thought your hooker had a decent game around the park and at the lineouts, but he needs to learn to hook a bit more rather than let his scrum half put it in bent I think he only got his foot to one all game and was on the verge of a yellow card at one point for foot up 3 times in a row.

He was a good lad though and chatting to him after the game I look forward to the return up here. Again the offer of a pint is open if you make yourself known to me.

Yeah Jimmy said you'd asked after me but he couldn't say which one you were!

I was surprised that Power wasn't playing; he hurt himself before kick off?

Our hooker wasn't even meant to be playing; the club general manager had been selected to play but the chef rang in sick so he had to call off and cook dinner for the sponsors! One man's misfortune is another's opportunity! He has been the 1st choice for the last two seasons though and I would say yesterday was the best he has played.

Sort of....

Well the dinner was nice too.

Bumped into an old friend of Rovers yesterday too. Tony Lakin who is apparantly playing "social" rugby for you guys.
