Horden beat us up front on an awful day. Well done to them, up the jumper stuff etc, but as a few of our people and Horden lads said what else had they to offer ? With 10 mins left and winning, the same happened, kick to the corner and win the lineout and trundle over to score ! Pre season is about trying things so where was Plan B ?

Other scores I know are

Blaydon 6 Preston Grassshoppers 26, Darlo 3 Cleckheaton 13, Rugby 36 DMP 0,WP St Helens 25 tynedale 34

Barnard Castle 13 - 6 Bishop Auckland
Richmondshire P - P Jarrovians
Seaham 7 - 45 Hartlepool B.B.O.B.
Seghill 20 - 3 Hartlepool Athletic
South Tyneside College 17 - 8 Chester le Street
Whitby 5 - 5 Medicals

Just a few points,
An awful day? surely thats typical forward rugby weather?
If thats there strength then why not play that way, rugby is all about winning, and if you say the weather was awful why try something different? I thought a plan B was for when you were losing not winning? Did your plan B work? Did you have one?
I used to play Full back and remember how frustrating it was when the forwards kept the ball, but a win is a win, especially in pre season friendlies it sets you up with a winning mentality. I dont know Yours or Hordens type of play, But they beat you without having to resort to plan B,
So just accept it. This just a personal opinion.

No probs in what you say. However in having won a game by driving over the line with bigger forwards on a day that suited that play what was gained by doing it again and again beating a side a league below you by another 7 points with the same tactic in the last 10 mins ? Will that help in N2E ?

Our plan B was to try and run the ball in the backs but very difficult on the day given the conditions.

Note it was some of the Horden players that said they had no Plan B, it was up the jumper or ?

We will accept the loss and we will learn but just thought a side from a higher league would exhibit a broader approach to the game ?

Horden were great hosts so no problems with them either !

As I said I dont know yours or the the of rugby Horden like to play, wasnt having a go or anything I know how frustrating it is, playing with or against a team that sticks it up there jumper, but hey good luck for the coming season and hope your plan b works if you need to use it ;-), and hope when Horden play West they still have no plan B.

Ginch Gonch

It was a very weak Rovers side v Sunderland too.

Cushlow went off injured early on, young Travis had a run out in the front row, young Dring got a start, Simon Hall, Steve Jones and Steve Wallis were all missing and Rovers made a lot of team changes throughout the game.

I also thought Sunderland played well and the weather conditions suited their style of play, whereas on Saturday the weather will not have suited them.

Horden to be relegated I reckon.

Forgot to mention the reason I think Horden will go down is that there are much bigger and bigger and still more mobile packs than Horden in N2E and without a plan B and without Turner Horden will get comprehensively beaten by quite a few teams.

From what I hear Sunderland were without their main man at number 8 too.
