I don't even think you can begrudge someone who leaves for the money. a payment of say £100 a game is difficult to turn down and can make a big differance to a young lad, especially if he's a student or doesn't get paid much for his working week.
Any player who says they wouldn`t even consider leaving for money is a liar.

Hope Driffield do OK. I have a soft spot for them for the way they play the game.

driff have pulled out of our pre season fixture next saturday!!

the reason stated was due to lack of 1st team quality players.... very sad and times must be a bit tough down at jellythorpe!

in all seriousnees though, despite the rivalry between our clubs, i hope all improves and you are more than competitive in north 2 east this season...

It seems that every area has a small number of decent players who move from club to club. Obviously East Yorks is the same as County Durham in this respect.

To my knowledge we haven't.
Certainly at training on Monday it was still on. Maybe I'll find out different at training tonight.

Well you're correct in that our game against you is off. We're playing Hull instead, apparently it's some testimonial game and there's a bit of a do on afterwards!

Wonderfish, i Cannot belive of all the clubs in Yorkshire, Driffield would be the club to pull a stunt such as this! Our so called friends and neighbours cancel a fixture less than a fortnight away, and then re-arrange with someone else.

Is there no honesty in Driffield! if you give your word does it not mean anything? who makes these decisions at your club?
For years i dealt with John Harrison whom i have the upmost respect for, the most honourable man youll ever likely to meet. I bet he had no party in this!

I must say it seemed strange we weren't playing Hull, as for as long as I can remember that was always our warm up game. I don't know the reasons for the change of schedule; perhaps we didn't fancy a home game and preferred to visit the beautiful surroundings of North Hull!

It doesn't really bother me who we play but I wouldn't be happy in your situation either. Commiserations, I hope you find another fixture and I trust this does not adversely affect your early progress in North 1.
