What did Saggy say like?

I was thinking that - i would have been nice is saggy had asked some one at the club and he could have been put straight.
The ams will be around for a lot longer. The club will serve a more useful purpose now that west are starting to grow, as the youngsters will be able to experince senior rugby before playing competitive senior rugby. There will also be at least one team at home for the lads to play for those who don't like travelling.
I think saggy needs to explain his comments and a full page apology in the mail for getting his facts wrong would be nice.

I stand by every word I wrote.

I love Quinny, Willer & Co to bits and I supported the West Amateurs concept in the paper because it gave an identity to lads who were West through and through and were not getting treated very well by their own club.

But WHRFC is very much 'old West' and now you are all one big happy family and its the best I've seen West run for probably close on two decades.

There is no longer a need for the Ams, your club should be putting out two or three West XVs every Saturday under one banner. I'm sorry Dave, but I think your head is in the sand on this one.

I have spoken to Quinny today and he has set out his reasons and I respected what he had to say. He says West Amateurs will be carrying on, playing in the Tees Valley Social League and I wished him and the lads the very best.

He said both West and West Ams were happy with the situation and I will be pleased to print the Am's side of the story in the Mail.

but they are pretty much the thirds in everything but name so I don't see what the big deal is.

1. There are benefits in terms of applying for grants because more than one club is on the site
2. The Ams get an international ticket allocation which the lads fully utilise and enjoy
3, As a club in their own right they are well organised and make a major contribution to the social life of the club - and when they say they will do something invariably do it.
4. They formed their own club when they felt the need and who is anyone to tell them to pack it in?

Thatis in addition to the points Dave Brown made.

Personally, I Accept we are theoretically classed as West 3rds, but what is the harm in continuing as a seperate club so to put it, when the level of rugby we play doesnt require players to be registered apart from cup comps when they can be cup tied?
It give the younger lads from West (who are willing) to play a decent level of senior rugby, before going onto competitive senior rugby, and also experience a decent social side to the game ( per Dog's response).
Maybe someone should have spoken to TW or Quinny before writing.
This of course just my opinion, and If i wasnt injured would definitely be contributing to the Ams cause.

Roy. If every sensible merger took place in Hartlepool rugby we would probably be left with one club running six teams.

roy kelly needs to get his facts straight on other subjects also as he named chummer the captain of the stags. also he said that chummer led us too glory in the league when everyone knows(who knows the stags) the captain who has led us all season was Kitto (chris martin)

Lets not go on about it, Roy does a great job and is a nice bloke who pays his hard earned to stand on the terraces at the dockers as well.

Long live the Ams.

don't think he got any "facts" wrong about the ams -because the article was basically an opinion piece on what roy thought. there were no facts included, other than how the ams started, so there wasn't much to get wrong
