Can anyone (DP) list all of the promotions and relegations in the Powergen Northern area for this season?

I really don't understand how the system owrks, it all seems abit confusing.

North 1

Promoted - Morley & West PArk
Relegated - Middlesbro (N2E) & Whitchurch (N2W)

N2E

Promoted Beverley & Penrith
Relegated Stockton (Yorks 1 (I think!)) , Alnwick (D&N1) & Sandal (Yorks1)

D&N1

Promoted - Horden
Relegated - Tech & Acklam

Yorks 1

Promoted - Sheff Tigers & Old Crossleyans
Relegated - Selby & Goole

N2W

Promoted - Stockport
Relegated - Rossendale & Widnes

Rochdale have volunteered to move from North 2 West to North 2 East to compensate for number of teams

Well there must be another team relegated from North 1 .... to accomodate 3 teams coming up all together from N2E and N2W :-)

I don't think so as West Park won their play off to go into national 3 north & Nuneaton won their play off to go into National 2 and there's only one team (Orrell) being relegated from National 2.

I think it's all to do with the expnsion of the higher leagues to 14 teams

I understand that Stockton are with Alnwick going into Durham and Northumberland Division 1. Malton and Norton are going back to Yorkshire 1 joining Sandal who were relegated, they can do this as Yorkshire 1 had Sheffield Tigers and Old Crossleyians promoted.

SCH,

Reckon they'd let Dave Sawyer ref a relegation play-off between West and Horden?

I presume such a game would be a mid-week affair played at a neutral venue of good standing approximately halfway between Horden and West under floodlights?

HBL, polite answers only please!

"there should be some provision for one of the relegated teams to have stopped in the league such as a play off between second bottom and third bottom"

I'm sure I've heard a of a similar concept before. That's it. It was the cascade effect that was in place before the current relegation format. You know, the one that everyone hated? :-D;-)

No techlad, the cascade effect had more teams than originally specified relegated at the end of a season. SCH is suggesting keeping a team in the league. However it is done someone usually suffers either by going down or a team from below not going up. Whatever Rochdales motives at least they have stopped anyone else getting dragged into it. Would be keen to know how Rochdale actually went about volunteering though, could Rovers volunteer to move into the Premiership now that Leeds have gone down for instance.;-):-D

:oD

But under the cascade effect some teams were kept in certain leagues. It happened once in our league. Medicals went down and Winlaton (who were second bottom) survived. The cause of the problem was an imbalance of teams from different regions being relegated and promoted. To negate this the number of relegated teams was twiddled with and this did sometimes mean that less teams that originally stated would be relegated.

The plan illustrated by SCH is the same in principle as the cascade effect, IMO, because it would cause the same arguments that surfaced with the old system. To wit, a team might finish 4th bottom (in theory a safe position) but still have to fight for a place in the league.

Furthermore if you're going to implement such playoff system in one league you'd probably have to do it in other regional leagues at the same level to maintain balance and I'm fairly confident you'd hit the wall at some point.

Last year the teams were like this:

Altrincham kersal: Big pack, good back row and sharp backs. Hard to beat at home but not too good onthe road.

Birkenhead Park: Not bad a few key signings would help but not much!

Caldy: Big pack (lots of islanders), good 9, 10 and 12! Poor outside that.

Chester: Massive Pack. Very, very hard to beat at home again don't travel too well.

Hull: Not a bad team a few bad results messedup there season.

Huddersfield: Not as strong as league position makes out.

Penrith and Beverley we played in the cup but you cant really judge a team on 1 game!

No idea what kendal, stockport and new brighton will be like!

However, Stockport did beat Morley who won North 1
