Evening all
I'm sure I can pass comment on this match by virtue of being a neutral supporter.
West had two chances and scored twice, doing a West v Rovers they do so in the last minute of normal time (48th minute of the 2nd half) and the last minute (14th) of the second period of extra time). Masthead misses the normal time con and Emu the extra time one, Sonny Wallis having fluffed a few kicks and gone off injured. In fact he didn't seem fit at all. Cue gnashing of teeth by all Hordleonians. The Rovers in the crowd wonder if Mr Wray's watch is also the same make as Mr Richardson's, Mr Candlish's and Mr Hodgson's?
West monopolise the penalty count much to the chagrin of the Hordle fans who I was brave enough to stand amongst (it was better than standing with the Westies)
Chris Wray indicates advantage for Hordle on half way right on extra time full time but then for some strange reason lets play go on and, seconds later, awards West a lineout on the Hordle 22 from where they score. Cue cries of cheat directed at Dave Sawyer the touch judge on that side. (Curiously Mr Sawyer doesn't venture onto the Hordle side of the pitch all night!)
Cue massive punch up.
Earlier Hordle lose two to the bin and West one, one of the Hordle's being Junior Banana (Karl Hartley).
The said Junior nana starts fighting with Top Banana (Nigel Hartley) when West score their first try!
Phil Henderson stamps on a Hordle player off the ball and, I'm guessing, assuming he knows he'll be getting a red card walks off and is subbed. By the time Chris Wray gets a handle on events, he's off the pitch and gets away with it....cue more Hordle booing and hissing.
A Hordle player lamps a Westie either in the stomach or, seems more likely from his reaction, his groin area and needs to be tended by the Hordle obligatory female physio. By the time West Girl gets round he's ready to resume.
There was also an interesting spat between PC Plod Groves and the Hordle coach over suggested tactics when Hordle are a man down. Jonty wants a forward pulling into the backs but the coach is having none of it and tells Groves to 'mind your ?!$%£&* business!'
The same Hordle coach threatens to sort Henderson out.
He also subs Hordle's best forward (just shading Goosey Tait) Steve Black and thereafter the Hordle lineout is never as good again.
Like I said an interesting match, Hordle ought to have won and probably deserved to but, for what seems the umpteenth time lately, I have to give credit to West for playing to the very end.
