West 29 Northern 80
Stand-out Sidd
Newly promoted Northern gave West a lesson in how to finish as they ran in some great tries from distance in a warm-up game split into three sessions ..

The visitors looked well prepared for their season in Regional One  taking the first two sessions by five tries to two with the final session level with two tries each.

West did look strong in the scrum,  but with two regular second rows once again missing  the line-out stuttered,  and in defence only full back Matt Siddle looked truly game ready.

There was, however,  some quality to cheer for the home supporters  with Liam Penncik and Chris Atkins crossing in the first session followed by a speedy interception  from Sam Knight in the second. Aidan Jackson-Smith, playing in the back row, got a deserved try from another line-out peel with Jobe Roxby getting is side's final try as he followed up a lightning burst up the right wing by Sam Knight.

Not too much to cheer for a Stags/Bucks side which went down 43-17 at Consett.

Perhaps fortunately the league season is still a fortnight away,  with an other warm-up trip to Old Brodleians next week for the Firsts and the visit of Old Boys for the  Stags/Bucks.
