The dinner will follow the warm-up game against Old Brodleians from Halifax who will be stopping for the event. Old Brods finished last season in a similar position to West in the corresponding Regional 2 North East league.
The Michael Young Testimonial Committee is arranging for a Micky’s former teammate and England player Mark Wilson to join him.
The Testimonial Year will also benefit two notable charities – My Name’5 Doddie and the Alan Shearer Foundation.

Micky’s career began with West Juniors where he played a year above his age for much of the time. He also had the benefit of being coached at Brierton by Tim Sawyer - alongside a number of other lads who also went on to play in the first team. Following a scholarship to Durham School, he joined the Falcons Academy and a professional career which also saw him play more than 200 times for Falcons as well as for Leicester Tigers, Bath, Gloucester and Toulon.
Throughout he has referred to West as “my club” and wore the club’s socks while captaining the Barbarians against Durham University a few weeks ago.
Micky’s international career saw him win the Churchill Cup with England Saxons and he memorably scored the winning try against the All Blacks when playing for England in the London Sevens Final in 2009.
