Both teams currently compete in Counties 1 Durham and Northumberland and should have met at Brinkburn in the league fixture last week. Snow and ice put paid to that encounter, which will now take place on Saturday February 25th.
As a result of all that the clubs have agreed a bigger than usual pool of players enabling more lads to say they've played in a Boxing Day game. Regardless, it will doubtless be keenly fought with the Boxing Day result mattering more to many than that of any league game.
West go into the game as holders of the bragging rights having won 27-15 at the New Friarage last year. Covid put paid to the 2020 Brinkburn fixture with Rovers winning their home game 31-17 in 2019.
