The Under 16's beat Durham City 26-21 with coach Brendan Baggs reporting:
"A true team performance from 1 through to 21. In difficult conditions everyone give it their all to ensure that we got the monkey of our backs and finally beat City for the first time since u7s.
"Some absolutely fantastic tries from Kay, Cox, Johnson and Carling laid the foundations with the only disappointing thing is that we didn’t score more of the opportunities that we created.
"Special mention goes to the prop duo Louis’s who not only put in a full shift but kept the boys going forward in both attack and defence. Great effort fellas. With two weeks to go to the County Cup final this result and performance was the tonic that we needed. Keep up the hard work boys and make every effort to get out training Tuesday and Thursday!"
The Under 15's took on old foes Stockton triumphing 19-7. Coach Chris Knight reports:
"Following an impressive 38 - 0 victory over Mowden park the week before, the U15s once again pulled off a superb victory against a very good Stockton side.
"After beating Stockton by a single point in last season's plate final the visitors arrived with revenge on there mind. In the first half 2 tries from Full back Pattinson and 1 from skipper Raph McNicholas gave West a healthy lead.
"Into a gale in the second half our defense was resolute. Time after time the visitors put pressure on but only managed to cross the line once. This was despite a heavy penalty count against us for persistent offside.
"Well done fellas and let's keep this run going."
