Our first league meeting was back in 2004 and that was also M&N's first home game after promotion. They won easily that day - 31-6 in front a large expectant crowd, but we won the return fixture as we did in season 2013-14 despite again losing the away leg 25-21. A late rally in that game wasn't quite enough.
This time we go into the game in some form after winning all three pre-season games against decent opposition, and then running in six tries in the 37-13 win against relegated Huddersfield YMCA.
Will Hilditch got the season going with a smartly taken try after just a couple of minutes. He'll be on the wing again, but there will be changes with Tim Blades, Eldon Myers and Jay Corbett all unavailable.
Fortunately, we were able to blood a lot of players pre-season who will all be raring to secure a first team place. Ross Wood returns to the front row and Joe Rafferty comes in for Corbett who shaped up very well on his transformation into a second row.
Chris Atkins is also fit again and will be among the changes together with Alex Barker and Paul Moss.
We also welcome back fly-half Gavin Painter with Zac Southern dropping to full back after his excellent show against Huddersfield.
M&N have stiffened their side with a couple of overseas signings including South African full back Xolela Payi who illuminated the 25-7 deafeat at Pocklington last week by running everything back at the opposition.
