Doncaster Phoenix are the only other side still unbeaten in North One East and they visit Brinkburn on October 24th - so by the end of the month we will have a far better idea of where our fortunes lie this season.
As things stand we are two points clear of this week's hosts by virtue of our bonus points - four games played and four try scoring points. Last season we struggled for any kind of extra points so the turnaround is most welcome.
There's no doubt that that team is in better shape than it was last season with every player having stepped up a notch and the likes of Chris Atkins and Liam Bailey outstanding every week. The addition of Gavin Painter's experience and quality is also a major factor with the prospect of more games to come from Aaron Myers.
It also has to be said that some of the clubs we have played so far have been struggling and look likely to be involved in a relegation battle throughout the season.
Two of those - Beverley and Westoe - played their rugby in the National leagues last season - as did Morley. The difference being that the Leeds side have clearly kept their squad together and, as a result, have beaten both Wheatley Hills and Beverley on their own pitch together with excellent victories at Percy Park followed by Guisborough last week.
If there is a form guide it is the fact that the previous week we played our best rugby for some time in winning 42-0 against the Priorymen while Morley's victory was by 10-7.
For the second week in a row we go into the game without skipper Dan Boatman who is again away watching the World Cup. Stu Waites will be a more then able deputy, and he will lead a squad which sees the return of Peter Youll, Scott Butcher, Luke Mallinson, Joe Rafferty and Alex Barker who all had either World Cup or wedding commitments last week.
There are one or two niggles on the injury front so the coaches have named a squad with the starting line-up decided shortly before the game - not that that makes much difference in these days of rolling replacements.
It's a couple of seasons since we last locked horns against a side we have met at all kinds of levels, both before and after the leagues were formed. As ever it will be an occasion when John Howe is fondly remembered.
