Guisborough Preview

Guisborough Preview
The trip to Guisborough was always going to be one of the highlights of the season and it takes on a new fascination as it is likely to be our first real test ..

The Priorymen have have had a tremendous last few seasons having built up a big and effective pack and a slick back division. As a result they did go unbeaten at home in three years.

That was until Percy Park spoilt the party on the opening day by sneaking a win right at the end of the game.

Guizzy responded by following our tracks down to Beverley where they put 60 points on the struggling Beavers. We were over the line often enough to have done the same the previous week, but we are quite content with having won both our games scoring 12 tries and conceding none.

Both of our wins were against sides who expect to struggle this season so the trip along the Whitby road will be a much better indication of what we can expect.

Scott Butcher (pictured) and Eldon Myers return to the backs, with a svelte looking Michael Hogan returning on the bench where he will provide front row cover with Jack Angus starting for the unavailable Ross Wood.

The versatile Zac Southern will cover the backs, while Alex Barker replaces Aaron Myers who once again has work commitments.

The most pleasing aspect of the season so far is that we have been able to score tries right across with Liam Bailey leading the way with three. Against Guisborough it is likely to be a much tighter affair with  the forward battle the key.

Guisborough have contacted us to let us know that the bottom of Belmangate is closed so access is either via the top estate end or if it's easier, the coach can park opposite Guis' cricket club and people walk up the path to the rugby club

Thanks for that. Years since I've been there and looking forward to it. Should be a good game and let's hope we keep up the hard work
