There has been some hard training this week, and there are several other changes in the starting line up for the trip to Halifax with Liam Bailey starting in the centre and Ian Pinchen in the front row.
Owen Bennett wasn't due to start last week, but came through 45 minutes unscathed, and he will once again start with Michael Hogan away for the next month or so. He is in some demand as a wedding guest.
Sam Miller also continues in the back row after coming on for last week's second half revival, and there's a strong looking bench where Andrew Foreman is able to cover any of the positions in the backs.
Young Jack Angus will provide the front row cover, and Joe Rafferty is fit again after his excellent start to the season was curtailed by a shoulder injury.
They'll face a Crocs side desperate for a win to kick start their season. They have only one point from their three games but, like us, have had injury problems and do have influential skipper Ryan Hammond back at No. 8.
They also have veteran prop Andy Day in the front row. He has more than 700 appearances for Crocs and every time we play them we give him an honourable mention in the belief that he may hang up his boots, or he may get selected for Crocs IIs, and this will be the last time we face him. It never happens so we look forward to seeing him again at Brinkburn in January.
So far Crocs have lost both their home games - 23-16 to Wheatley Hills in the season opener and 27-14 to new boys Dinnington last week. In between they went down 34-8 at Bradford and Bingley. Not the start new coaching duo Jack Hammond and Ben Greaves hoped for when they moved across from the Bees during the summer.
The West coaches will be insisting their team puts in a better start than it did last week against Rochdale. The first half display lacked as much lustre as it's possible to have, but the transformation in the second half was remarkable.
That has been the pattern so far - an excellent first half against Sheffield in the first game; holding Dinnington in the first half when they had the advantage of their infamous slope; then last weeks' proverbial game of two halves.
We got out of jail and won two of those games, and let's hope that with players returning and a strong bench we can put in a eighty minute performance on Crocs' tight pitch.
