The side we face may not be as strong on paper as the one we faced last time when we triumphed 27-17.
Blaydon have arranged a tough looking first team warm up game at Rotherham, as they prepare for an even more difficult first league game at Mowden Park in National One.
So the side they send is likely to be made up of some ambitious first team hopefuls and second team players.
Regardless, our main interest is in getting a decent game under our belts with Sheffield visiting next week. They ended up last season as the form team in North One East, and have recruited a few players over the summer.
By comparison we have Owen Bennett, Liam Bailey, and Andy Dixon as long term injury victims, although there is better news on Player of the Year Ian Pinchen following a scan on his injured shoulder.
Fortunately, we have some young players coming through, with the likes of Alex Barker [pictured] training hard and looking a more than able replacement for Jonny Boatman in the back row.
Luke Chapman is back from Billingham and is the one "new" signing so far. He took his place in the side which overcame Westoe 26-17 in our only game so far where the likes of Jay Corbett and Zac Southern looked more than ready to compete for regular places this season.
