He was concussed in the opening minutes of the game and missed a 46-0 defeat. It was one of those games where a side could do no wrong with rugby league winger Alisdair McLarron and back row Kerry Wood running amok. Read about it here .
Now Davy is back at fly half as Stu Waites rests a niggling injury. His experience will be an important factor as we hope to get the season back on track after last week's lethargic show at Rochdale.
Tighe won't be the only player on the field tomorrow to have featured in that game back in 2004. A young Jonny Boatman was in the back row for West while Oli Cooper was in the second row for Driff. McClarron still plays the occasional first team game but isn't in the team this week.
Many of the present West team hadn't actually started to play rugby when that game was played. Sam Miller was nine and it is his 18th birthday today [Friday] so let's hope he celebrates by adding to the six tries he has already scored this season. Congrats to Sam from everyone at the club - although I'm not sure coming of age gets him out of going round with the raffle tickets after the game.
The notable birthday means, of course, that Sam could now play at hooker where he has spent much of his youth and gaining representative honours with the North of England. He does point out, however, that he considers himself a back row and that's where he sees his immediate rugby future. To be honest, like Liam Bailey, he could probably play in most position.
The Driffield game also sees another young player moving up a notch. Andy Turner spent most of last season recovering from injury and has been putting in hours of work with Gez the physio.
It's resulted in some man of the match performances in the back row for the Stags and so Andy sees himself on the bench this week. He is, of course, the grandson of Reg our our late and much missed President.
The pack remains the same as the one which struggled to get going last week, while there is one enforced change in the backs with Luke Mallinson returning at full back in place of Colin Cheslin who has work commitments.
Driffield arrive having won only one game so far - but they have earned five bonus points from five games so the stats would tell you that they will continue to be difficult opposition.
