Bailey
Both the first team and Stags will be in action for the first time this weekend. The firsts are taking part in a triangular tournament at Hollow Drift against City and Westoe [Start: 2.30] while the Stags host Barnard Castle ...

The following week the firsts will be at Blaydon for a County Cup game - despite Blaydon's first team squad being on tour in Ayrshire - and the following week we host our friends from Horden in a memorial game for Bob Bateman.

Asa usual there's a number of players missing because of holidays but we will see a very welcome return for a slimline Liam Bailey who missed the whole of last season with a knee injury.

It was thought he would not be ready for a few more months but he has been putting in some hard rehab work with Gez the phsyio. So has Reg Turner'ss grandson Andew who isn't loomng as svelte as Liam but is also itching to get back on the pitch.

There've been excllent numbers at training all summer with Peter Robinson's forwards putting in some particularly hard work. The squads will be selected on Thursday after training.
