Boxing Day

Boxing Day
Fingers crossed we will get a chance to host our first Boxing Day game in four years next Wednesday. The Brinkburn pitches are on the extreme side of damp just at the moment  - but thanks to the sand below the former first team pitch we will get a game. Kick off off 2.15.

The Brinkburn pitch has always been one of the best draining in the area and has been marked out in case the Catcote Road pitch is unplayable. Fortunately, no rain is forecast after Saturday so prospects are good.

Early risers will also be able to enjoy West Under 15's taking on  their New Friarage counterparts with an 11.00 kick off.  It will be a big game for the lads so, as Rovers' Darren Smith  says, come along and support the future of Hartlepool rugby.

In the senior game both clubs will be fielding pretty much their first teams  plus eight replacements, and we will have the luxury of touch judges Dave Swainson and Nikki O'Donnell assisting referee Carl Hall.

Proceeds from the game will go towards replacing the car park lighting which once again disappeared over two nights this week - no doubt destined for some nefarious purpose in someone's loft. Any information welcome.

Rovers have named their squad while Iain Dixon is waiting on one or two issues before finalising his.

Rovers: 15 Chris Sainty 14 Jack Gunn 13 David Grand 12 James Evens 11 Ian Coulson 10 Michael Barnfield 9 Taz Pelser 1 Ben Little 2 Jonny Cushlow (c) 3 Glen Wise 4 Callum Whitehead 5 Andrew Pinchen 6 Tyrone Church 7 Lee Maddison 8 Andrew Dring  Reps: Scott Buttery, Ian Gallagher, Dash Hogg, Matty Stevenson, Liam Armstrong, Michael Tucker, Anthony Hanley, Liam Austwicke, Adam Smith
