Miles for Men
Ladies Lead The Way
The club is officially supporting next month's Miles for Men run which is the "blue" version of the incredibly successful annual ladies' Race for Life. The men's version is being run for the first time ever in Hartlepool, and runners from West will raise money for Cancer Research UK as well as for the club ...

The run will be held on Sunday August 19th starting at the Marina at Noon and finishing after a gentle, and flat, 5k [three miles]  at Seaton Cricket and Rugby club. where there is entertainment and refreshments laid on for the rest of the day.

It is open to males of all ages wity the hope that lots of lads and dads run together. The entry fee is £10 per head with £7 going to Cancer Research UK and - for every runner from West - £3 going to the club.

Miles for Men is the idea of Micky Day who lost his father to throat cancer five years age. He says: "Like everyone else I was impressed by the ladies and their Race for Life, and thought why couldn't us blokes do something similar.

"I have had  tremendous help in getting it going - local companies have been fantastic in supporting us including with printing and providing the blue tee shirts which every runner will wear.

"We are hoping for 4,000 runners. We are getting very good support from local clubs and we're hoping for some special rivalry as Rovers also getting involved!"

Cancer Research UKk is naturally taking a keen interest in Miles for Men and there are real hopes that the event will roll out across the country in years to come.

Entry forms are also available at the club bar.
