Boxing Day Returns

Boxing Day Returns
Skipper
The weather forecast is promising so - fingers crossed - we can once again enjoy our Boxing Day in the traditional way. It's so long since we played the fixture you may be excused for not knowing that it's Rovers turn to host with a 2.00 pm kick off at the New Friarage .. ..

The game is an important part of the Hartlepool social calendar  and an even more important  income generator for the home club.

It's also a game that players want to take part in, and that's why the West coaches have been able to pick a strong squad led by by Danny Boatman.

Brother Jonny is continuing his return in what will be very much a family affair with a brace of Foremans and a couple of Cheslins. There's also a duo of Dixons-  but they don't count.

West squad: Waites, A Cheslin, Edwards, Swales, Hodgson, C Cheslin, Butcher, G Foreman, A Foreman, Painter, Wood, Bailey, Coates,  Hogan, A Dixon, Davies, T Dixon, D Boatman [capt], J Boatman, Taylor, Gilmour.

Man of the Match Trophy. Will be chosen by members of the Caswell family who will present it outside the Rovers club straight after the game. It is in memory of Tony who played on the wing for both West and Rovers as well as Durham County. Tony passed away at his home in Aberdeen last year at the age of 68.
