Just a quick question to the forum.

How many teams are there in N3N that dont want to play rugby and prefer to cheap shot there way through games?

Having watched Percy Park play intelligent, structured, fast paced rugby versus West Hartlepool only to face a team that wanted to cheap shot them and slow the game down to a vets pace it made me wonder how many other teams in the league have this mind set.

Having played against West I realise the hard edge is part of there culture but in the past they actually tried to play rugby and were pretty good at it as well. I was suprised to see such a poor performance from them and such a lack of ambition!

To the person that has posted about "cheap shots" I was at the game yesterday watching from a far (as West are not my team) and must admit it didn't seem an ill tempered match or players complaining about so called cheap shots.

I just think west are going through a re building phase, with what seems a lot of new faces trying to settle into a new squad/coaches. Also both teams didn't have too much clean ball as both sides didn't roll away, along with a whistle happy referee!

After saying all of this there was some decent rugby played by both sides, just Percy Park had a little more confidence and belief.

So I would disagree with what has been but on here, although quite interesting what other people see!

Except comments from cheap shot city!!! sounds as if it was a matter of cohesion and confidence. If onlooker is right then it is something for the coaches to work on and hopefully be able to develop a settled side also, too many changes and new faces does not provide for cohesion and confidence.Actually wondered from afar if our preseason was too short and too little!!!

Jst letting you know what they are talking about on rolling maul. You will find it hard to win games if you cant keep 15 men on the pitch and what i saw we had 3 in the bin on saturday

Both teams had 3 men in the sin-bin according to the internet. Also this does`t mean that they were in the Sin Bin for fowl play, could of been technical offences.

"Denny Dixon" - unsure about pre-season but I know they had a match cancelled against Westoe, because they cancelled against us also.

cheap shot city - were you actually at the match?
The yellow cards for both teams were all for offenses at the breakdown, most of them harsh, but the ref obviously wanted to make a point.
Both teams played rugby, the main difference between the sides being the scrum in the second half when we couldn't secure our own ball cleanly. Also, percy Park have some strong runners in the backs who, once the first up tackle is missed were good at making those breaks count.

West were second best on the day, but it was a decent performance considering all the absences. It's not going to get any easier next week at Sandal though

My guess. The original poster in this thread is the mischievous "Westwatch" from a few weeks ago. I wish the Darkside still had their own forum instead of causing chew on here

Thought PP's half backs were the difference. Our first up tackling slipped up in the second half and a few lads were more keen on making the big hit than playing heads up
Injuries etc also meant the stags were down to the bare bones.
Firsts were missing Carsie, Gilly, Disco, Roo, Stewie and Andy Ches from the side which beat Birkenhead.
