I don't know what Rossendale were thinking by turning down that shot at goal. There was a decent wind so it wouldn't have been the easiest of kicks but surely you've got to have a go when you're only 3 points behind??

Having said that, west worked really hard for this result and I think it was a good performance. Our main problem was clearing out the rucks as Rossendale were very quick to get in there looking for the ball as soon as the man went down and we were sometimes a bit slow getting there. The ref allowed a lot more competition at the breakdown than we saw last season so it'll be interesting to see if that was just him or whether that's what it will be like in this league.

Encouraging performance on the whole. Still a few things to work on obviously.
However, apart from that bit of daftness in the second half, I thought the visitors werre rarely allowed to threaten our line.
There were a couple of chances we should have taken and we really do need a settled and consistent kicker who can keep the scoreboard ticking over. We had the same problem last season and got away with it but I suspect we won't this season.

when your lot decide to start paying again

having seen the attempts at tackling and catching the ball I think we might just extend the loan period for another season>>>
