I had the pleasure of playing in the forwards, alongside Tony through seasons 1974 -78 He was a talented, mobile player with lots of tenacity, which enabled him to switch between second row and back row.
Tony is a great lad as his t.v. interview confirmed - a quietly spoken and unassuming guy (like most rugby players)
He also had other talents - he was one of our bankers in the after-match games in the clubhouse. His "bottle walking" was a sight to behold.
Others that come to mind was a large prop who could eat a bag of crisps faster than anyone else (no name to protect his image) and Kenny Oldfield who could light and smoke a cigarette whilst winning the arm wrestling.
Great days.
