Consett have had a tremendous run of results, after strengthening the squad with some very useful South African lads, and are nailed on for one  of the new play-off places. By comparison West still have a lot to do after slipping into the bottom half after last week's defeat at Morpeth - a game where they looked capable of winning for the first hour - only to let in a few late tries.

However, it's still all play with only one point separating Morpeth, Keswick , Sunderland and West who are all fighting for the fourth and fifth places which guarantee play-off games.

March sees West facing clubs who are all below them in the league. Next week it's off to Wigton, who have yet to win a game, followed by City away and Guisborough at home - two sides who will be fighting to get out of the relegation play-off places.

West go into the Consett game with only a couple of changes from last week with both Adam Hutchinson and Alex Barker returning in the pack while  the backs are unchanged. Hayden Hodgson is away with North of England Under 18's.

Hutch starts alongside the in-form Aidan Jackson-Smith and Andrew Rollins, while Charlie Kay returns to the second row to accompany Elliott Reed. Both players have been doing a sterling job in the absence of more recognised locks with Jake Linghan (travelling the world), Nick Bennions (unable to commit to first team rugby), Connor McLurg (new job) and Will Corbett (work and domestic commitments) all unavailabe for selection.

The Stags will be boosted by the return of fly-half Ben Reed from injury with Ryan O'Keefe also able to return in the second row where he will partner Jack Mulcahy. They go into the game in sixth place just two points behind their visitors who are in fourth.
