Three Big Games

Three Big Games
All our senior sides are in action this week with the firsts hosting Keswick in a 6th v 7th  encounter; the Stags off to Bishop Auckland for a County Cup game and the Bucks heading for the seaside to take on Seaton firsts in CaNDY Three. All kicking off at 2.00 ...

Regional 2 North is proving very compettive this season. Apart from the top and bottom teams the other ten can beat each other on the day - either home or away - and a couple of wins can propel a side into the top three,  or a couple of defeats the opposite. As a result, West go into this game just four points behind third place Sunderland who we beat at Ashbrooke just a few weeks ago.

Keswick arrive having slipped a litle in recent weeks with a much changed side going down 44-18 at Morpeth last week. They remain our bogey team at Davidson Park having won all the recent encounters, including a 19-13 win earlier this season when their defence kept out an eager West side.

West didn't have a game last week which has allowed one or two playes to recover from knocks,  including Max Tennant who will take his place in a back liine which will be notable for the absence of coach Peter Youll. His vociferous contribution will, insted, be aimed at the pupils on a school trip . Kieran Scollay, recently returned from his own exotic travels, takes his place in the centre.

Up front,  Connor McLurg partners Elliot Reed in the second row with Aidan Jackson-Smith returning to the front row with Alex Barker fit to start in the back row alongside skipper Chris Atkins and Charlie Kay.

Joe Cholmondeley and Hayden Hodgson are back from their North of England trials. Joe is in the reserve list and starts again for the first team, while Hayden is in the final 23, but will have to wait to celebrate from this week's bench.

The Stags will be looking to bounce back from their big defeat at Tynedale last week as they travel  alongh the A689 looking to continue their cup run. Lewis Scott comes in at full back with Matty Baggs at scrum half. There's quite a few "unavailables" in the senior squad  this week but the Bucks are still able to name a 23 man squad to travel down to Seaton.
