The Longest Trip
Skipper Returns
The weather is looking good for the first team’s longest trip of the season. Aspatria is the destination for a 2.15 kick off with  the Stags and Bucks  kicking  off 15 minutes earlier. The former at home to  Alnwick in CaNDY One while the Bucks travel to Stockton in CaNDY Three …

The Firsts  moved up to fourth last week after the 32-21 home  win over Upper  Eden  -one of only two games played in Regional 2 North -points in the bag on what is proving to be a very tight league.

West have won seven of their 14 games and drawn another, while Aspatria are in the relegation play-offs despite having won five and drawn one. Bonus points make a big difference these days.

The home side will be desperate  to use their  Bower Park advantage  to start moving clear of that dreaded relegation zone with Durham City and Guisborough firmly in their sights.

In the first meeting between the clubs in October, on a glorious day for rugby,  West won  41-24 courtesy of a hat-trick from Sam Knight  alongside scores from Nick Bennions, Aidan Jackson-Smith and Matty Baggs.

Sam isn't travelling this week so will line-up in a strong Stags side. However, Max Tennant is back from holiday and will be on the wing with Matt Siddle at full back. Skipper Chris Atkins is also back from injury and returns at No.8.

On the bench Connor McLurg and Alex Barker also both return to provide forwards cover with Kieran Scollay covering the backs.

Fourth place  Stags take on unbeaten Alnwick IIs looking to build on a season which has exceeded all expactations following last season's promotion to CaNDY One.
