The side ran in eight tries, Matt Siddle converting them all in style,  in front of a big crowd at a cold and breezy Eden Park.

The visitors got off to the best possible start as the home side fumbled the kick-off - the West forwards piling in and quick ball setting up Sam Knight for his first of the afternoon.

Peterlee and Horden had a host of unavailable players, but they showed their spirit by having their best fifteen minutes of the game. The forwards pressurised  the line and the backs showed some lively handling. However, a combination of poor handling and a try chalked off for a forward pass kept West in the lead.

Once the home storm had abated West increased their lead with two superb individual tries. Lewis Scott scoring the first after 20 minutes - coming off his wing and running a great line as he burst through the inside centre channel to go in under the posts from 25 metres.

Four minutes later Knight showed what he could do as he glided through the defence after taking a pass on the half-way line.

Andrew Rollins was the next on the scoresheet against his old club  - coming round from a line-out to power over to take the score to 28-0 at the break.

The home side had been competitive throughout,  and got the score their first half had deserved shortly after the resumption. It came on a penalty advantage with a score in the right corner and another excellent conversion into the wind.

West  had brought on some of their up and coming players at the break. Hpwever, it was two first team regulars who combined to regain their side’s 28 point lead - Siddle timing his pass to send Ollie Connolly in under the posts.

Horden responded with a try in the corner after a break up the left wing, but once again West were quick to respond.

Louis Ward,  making his first team debut, was the scorer as he took ball at the back of a line-out  and weaving his way through several tackles to score..

Aidan Jackson-Smith was next up as he crossed from close range,  with Charlie Kay finishing off West’s scoring in the right corner.Sidd completing  his immaculate conversion record from the touchline.

There was time  for the  home side’s deserved third try as they continued to battle,  with another excellent conversion from the touchline ending proceedings.

It’s back to league action next week with the first of two home games. Wigton, who have yet to win a game, will be  the visitors to Brinkburn.
