Sounds like a great day ahead - well done to Wing Commander Andy Dixon - excellent idea !!!

This has also got me thinking back to a couple of other Aviators from our long & distinguished history, but my recollection of two WHRFC flyers is a little sketchy so hopefully some colleagues out there may be able to fill in the gaps for me/us:-

(1) I recall an incident at Brierton Lane when the plan was for local Farmer & Amateur Aviator Phil Twizzell to circle the ground in his home made Microlight and then land on the pitch. For the life of me I can't remember the occasion although I think it was supposed to link up with a Cow being let loose to have a wander & a cr#p and then since the pitch had been divided up into a series of squares which were raffled off, the winner would be the person who had bought the ticket relating to the square that the cow had chosen to relieve itself on. I seem to remember that Phil had some last minute avionics issues though and had to divert to our local back up landing zone ... Otherwise known as Dog Sh#t 1 - Rossmere. Can anyone recall this incident ?

(2) Second of these Ripping Yarns was when our great friend Bernie "King Carpet" Povey - also a keen Aviator was invited onto the flight deck of a plane during one of the Club's many tours. As Bernie was settling into things the local air traffic controller radioed in for the pilot of West Flight 123 to report it,s height and position to which Bernie rlied " Aye, I'm 5ft 10" and I'm Sat right at the front !!! Priceless !!! Can anyone out there confirm which tour it was. Not USA as I was on that one but possibly Canada or Far East perhaps ???

Bernie must have been on the Canada trip, I was lucky to go on the Far East tour and I cant remember him being there.

Yes- we could run that one again. I remember the title of the event now - "Where will Daisy Dump ?" - another Stag Swag PR coup !! I think the heiffer was one of Peter Woods Dad's - they used to hold a top notch mid summer Bar B up at their farm too.
