I saw Jim on my last visit home. He looked and sounded so fit and well, and that makes this news even harder to take. We have lost a great bloke, and a terrific club member. Our condolences to Joan and all the family,
Mick and Linda Dutton,
Cincinnati, OH

Completely frozen at this really sad news. What a shock, he was always looking so fit and healthy!! Jimmy was a real pal of mine from Elwick Road Junior School since the day he arrived, his father taking the headmaster post at Henry's. Spent many happy hours at his home (Hutton Avenue) or mine. Even had a mention in his book. At Grammar we were in the same class and house. Always had plenty of time for me whenever I was home and up the club matches, he was my source of all update information about all former schoolmates, seemed to knew about everybody!! Was always great to see him. Knew him with Joan from their beginning and were a very special pair. My heartfelt condolences go out to her specifically and his family as whole!!! As well as his rugby and cricket exploits he was also a very good goal keeper in the style of Ralph Guthrie (we always had a smile about that). His smiling face will be a great miss to whoever knew him. R.I.P. Jimmy. Your pal Denny!!

Very sad news indeed, I had the privilege and pleasure of playing alongside Jim during the early 70's. He was a highly respected, extremely quick and talented rugby player.

Deepest sympathy to Joan and family
