We should have had the game won in the first half to be honest. Ilkley had a good set of backs who ran some good lines and our tackling is normally pretty good so wouldn't criticize.
If Butcher had just managed to wriggle free after his break or the referee had taken harsher action instead of awarding us just a penalty then we would probably have sneaked another win.

Saying the backs can't tackle is a sweeping statement, though admittedly some tackles were missed.
But there was some bad decision-making and one or two individuals weren't at their best.
I can't fathom what WPA means when he says that if the referee had taken harsher action instead of awarding us just a penalty we would probably have sneaked another win.
Would we? I very much doubt it ... the better team won on the day, but we can play a lot better.

Penalty for not releasing, penalty awarded for high tackle on Painter who took a quick tap, play allowed to go on but defence not 10 metres and play not brought back for those offences when we knocked on.
I do agree Ilkley deserved their win just making the point we could have sneaked this one as well.
