Real shame as Disco has been playing really well - hope he's back on his feet soon.

Is there likely to be any citing for this - if the tackle was deemed illegal by the referee then surely action should be taken. After all, we have seen lengthy bans recently for actions not even seen by the match referee.

Surely we don't want to go down the citing road do we?
I know one club has chosen to do it, but it's not in the spirit of things is it?

I agree that citing isn't an ideal Route to go down or indeed a precedent to set but the reality is that disco has a broken leg from foul play. The Ref obviously saw the incident but only chose to yellow card the player (who attempted a similar style of 'tackle' earlier in the game)but in my eyes the guy has a case to answer as his foul play has resulted in the loss of a player and his job and frankly a yellow card isn't sufficient punishment.

This is all the more galling when considered alongside recent ban (being appealed) which was based on a balance of probability! Frankly I'm disgusted by the incident and gutted for the lad and feel it should be properly assessed with a suitable punishment administered

First doesn't the ref need to write a report. With knowledge that a leg had been broke and county decide from there what action to take. Rugby is a great sport but a collision not contact sport. If every injury results in blame and retribution we'd have nobody willing to play!! Just because another club decides to act like footballers doesn't mean everyone else should follow.... Rant over

As I said its not ideal and I've played enough rugby to be more than aware of the physical nature of the game. Collision or contact aside, the fact remains the injury was caused by foul play. Would we be advocating no further action if it had been a kick or stamp that broke his leg? I'm not saying cite every injury as injuries are of course inevitable or indeed that a citing is the right course of action but I feel there should be some recourse to what was a rather cowardly attempt at bringing the man down resulting in the loss of a player and the loss of him being able to do his job!!

I'm afraid you are incorrect Dave. To quote the RFU...'a citing may be initiated where there is an allegation that a player committed an act of foul play but has not been awarded a red card for that act'. In this instance a citing would be possible, however it is a much more difficult case to argue if, as in this instance, a yellow card was shown as you then have to prove (on the balance of probability) that the ref was wrong in the action he took!

Either way I'm not advocating a citing, it's just frustrating that such an act will go unpunished!!
