Two Home Games
Back to three  o’clock kicks offs this week as we have the rare treat of a third team game and welcome Kirkby Lonsdale for their first ever game at Brinkburn ….

The Cumbrians will arrive in bottom place  in Regional 2 North but  buoyed by the 27-17 win over second bottom  Guisborough who are now just six points ahead.  However, two go down from this league and with 20 points still to play for KL find themselves 11 points behind their local rivals Upper Eden who are third from bottom.

West won the game 22-10 at Underley Park  in November. Unusually all the points were scored in the first half - the temptation of the cosy clubhouse with its roaring real fire growing  as the second half dragged on.

The aim for West this week is to bury  the memory of the last game at Consett,  which was another odd one. The home side were gifted three of their four tries in their 26-14 win - achieved despite being second best in the set-piece and conceding 26 penalties and four yellow cards.

Regardless, West are still very comfortable in fourth place and the aim now is to finish the season on a high with three of the last four games at home and the final away fixture at struggling Carlisle.

As well as being the first day of Spring it’s also half-term so there’s a few changes this week. In the second row Nick Bennions continues with Will Corbett sidelined for the rest of the season while Stags’ skipper Jonny Wray comes in for the unavailable Jake Linighan.

Chris Atkins is also otherwise engaged so Peter Youll once again makes the journey from outside centre to No. 8. In the backs skipper Ryan Painter continues at stand-off alongside Matty Baggs with Lewis Scott starting on the wing.

Liam Pennick provides front row cover with new boy Kieran Scollay and old boy Zac Southern covering the backs.

The Bucks will be taking on Acklam Talbots who have stepped in after original opponents Consett backed out of the third team game.  The game will see some old faces including Michael Hogan, Luke Mallinson, Craig Hadwen and Jordan Baggs alongside a sprinkling of recent Academy players..
