Last time out the Firsts lost only their second game of the season on a frustrating afternoon in Morpeth. That 29-19 defeat saw West drop from top to fourth in a very keenly contested league dominated by teams from the North East. West are now five points behind Middlesbrough and four behind Northern and Morpeth.

Consett, coached by former West centre Grant Thompson, arrive in seventh place having won three of their seven games including a 34-0 win at second bottom Kirkby Lonsdale a fortnight ago.

The usual changes this week with Liam Pennick, Aidan Jackson-Smith, Will Corbett and Alex Barker all returning and starting in the pack wand Tom Shaw being rewarded for some strong performances for the Stags taking over from the injured Jay Corbett..

In the backs both skipper Ryan Painter and Ollie Connolly are away – one at Twickenham and the other in New Zealand. As a result, Matty Baggs and Ben Reed will continue their successful pairing at half-back. Matt Siddle drops to full back with the returning Max Tennant joining Sam Knight in the back three.

Adam Hutchinson and Connor McLurg will be providing forward cover from the bench with Zac Southern covering the backs.

There’s a welcome return to action  for Chris Atkins who will be in the centre for the Stags. Nick Bennions is back from holiday and will be at No.8, while  Greg Edwards will be using his experience at fly-half.

It’s Remembrance weekend and there will be a one-minute silence before the first team game .
