It had been hoped that the coaching trio would be able to end their excellent service with a Papa Johns cup final this weekend. Instead, they passed on the news to the players on the pitch after last week's unlucky semi-final defeat at Keswick.
Regardless, they are all going out on a high. The remarkable unbeaten season to gain promotion back to Level 6 will live long in the memory, and this season's sixth place was more than could be wished for at the start of the season..
And, while the young first team has grown under their tutelage, so has the Stags where the coaches have take it in turn to support Mixie Parker, Graeme Southern and Andy Turner in building a competitive mix of youth and experience, which promises even more next season.
Chris Webb and the club's rugby management are now working on putting together a new coaching team with the aim of building on the successes of the past few years.
The RFU has now announced the make-up of the leagues. There will be one new venue for West next season with Kirkby Lonsdale moving across from the North West leagues. Carlisle and Guisborough also come into the league after their promotions
It will mean five trips across the A66 - expensive, as there is no longer any subsidised coach travel, but there's always a warm welcome and a decent pint at Cumbrian clubs. The season will start on Saturday September 7th.
