They are now the respective coaches with Jamie looking to get revenge for the 44-15 defeat at Consett back in September.
Three interception tries undid West that day. Buoyed by some lads with more exotic accents than the locals there was no doubting that Consett deserved the win and they are now comfortable in fifth place. They are also the only side, so far, to have beaten league leaders Percy Park.

The holiday games have left a few injury issues notably to Will Hilditch and Lewis Scott. Fortunately, Jake Tennant, who had a fine game against Rovers, is available and he continues in the centre alongside Oli Connolly wth brother Max on the left wing. Up front Liam Pennick, Will Corbett and Issac Robinson return to acrion with Chris Atkins leading the side again from No 8 as Ryan Painter continues to recover from his hamstring strain. Fly-half Ben Reed, who had an encouraging return to rugby on Boxing Day after a five year absence will be on the bench alongside Jack Angus and Louis Adamson. |
Mike Weston 1938-2023
There will be a one minute silence before this weekend's game in memory of Durham City, Durham County and England legend Mike Weston who died on Christmas Eve. Mike's many achievements included leading Durham County from 1961-1968 when the side were six-times winners of the Northern Championship; 29 caps for England including captaining the side five times, and two tours as a British Lion in 1962 and 1966. After his retirement in 1968 he continued to play his part as England team manager and team selector, taking charge of the England Rugby side in the first World Cup in 1987. |
