Neither West nor Rovers have been setting their leagues on fire and both will be hoping for a boost to take them into 2024
The Firsts have a strong side out as they prepare for a string of important games in January. There is one "new" face in Ben Reed, a 26-year-old fly half who has rejoined the club after coming through the ranks with the likes of Will Hilditch. He'll partner Matty Baggs with Ollie Connolly returning to the centre .
Up front Liam Pennick returns after missing the last few games with Jake Linighan also back from work commitments. Chrissy Atkins will lead the side in the absence of the injured Ryan Painter .
The Stags, who have yet to win the Bill Bowden Trophy, will have their usual mix of experience and youth with an interesting second row combination of Ben Lloyd and Josh Wilson - the latter making his first team debut at Morpeth last week.
Charlie Kay came off the bench to have a try chalked off at Morpeth and he's the only player selected to start both games with the squads seeing a total of 44 lads getting a festive run-out.
