Sam's flair meant he was an ever present in the Durham County team that reached the final at Ealing and which was dominated by Billingham coaches and players. He joins several Old Boys' players, including Ryan Foreman, who were persuaded by that experience to test themselves in National League rugby with the Teessiders. There's no doubt Sam will make his mark and we wish him all the best.

Chris Atkins was also a stand-out player with the County - following his own excellent season in West's promotion side. He will be starting his pre-season at Brinkburn along with the other lads who wore the maroon including Davy Heckles, Jay Corbett, Will Hilditch and Jack Angus. Owen's is the only "new" face, so far. He left to go to Newcastle as a speedy and strong running winger (left) and trained and played with Northern. He also developed his coaching skills with the university teams and has returned as a back-row. |
It promises to be an exciting season for both the senior sides with promotion back to Regional 2 North seeing "hostilities" resumed against the likes of City, Northern, Percy Park and Boro with the added interest of the four Cumbrian clubs, including the visit of Keswick for the league opener on September 2nd.
Before that we will see Acklam visit on August 12th for the first "contact" game followed by a trip to Penrith on August 19th.
