Our very own Micky Young has been released by Newcastle at the age of 34 after a glittering career with Falcons, Leicester, Bath and the Falcons again . In all making more than 200 appearances for the North East club ...
In between the scrum half played twice for England Saxons and the England Sevens team - scoring the winning try against the All Blacks in the London Sevens tournament.
During his time with Leicester the club won both the Premiership and the Anglo-Welsh Cup.
Of course, it all began at West where mum Kath was one of his early coaches.
The talent, and will to win, was obvious from the start with Micky spending hours studying videos of the top scrum halves of the day, and after attending Brierton Comprehensive he won a scholarship to Durham School.
From there his career took off and will hopefully continue in some form on the pitch.

Stan & HL - I agree completely regarding Bunt & Arty (Brieton's very own Abbott & Costello).
It was they who got me interested in Rugby & WHRFC and both were fine Teachers too, Treachers of Life not just Maths & English, as was The Gateman too of course Stan.
It was Bunt and Peter Davey who introduecd me to the Scafells - a mad, hot August day in '78 and the Classic Route up from Wasdale Head via Brown Tongue, Lords Rake, Scafell, West Wall Traverse, Mickledoor Ridge, Scafell Pike, Corridor Route and Sty Head Pass.
He also stressed how important it was to replace any lost fluids ASAP and he was as good as his word and consequently introduced me to the Old Peculiar at The Wasdale Head Hotel- "Don't worry young Peacock...it may taste strong at first but it's just like a Shandy with a bit of Blackcurrant in it really" - LoL.
I've been hooked on Mountains....and Old Peculiar ever since.
There must be enough Bunt, Arty, Teacher stories out there to write a Book perhaps Stan ?
I think teachers had a bit more character in those days.
I do recall a furious Gateman coming home on a Thursday night complaining that all the Manor staff had been kicked out of a stoppy-back on the Headland for fighting.
