Durham 30 Northumberland 12
West players past and present played their part as Durham beat Northumberland in the Bill Beaumont County Championship at the New Friarage. The day was also memorable as County President Andrew Openshaw presented the Counties 1 Durham and Northumberland  winners plaque which was accepted by Sam Heron who had a fine game at scrum half for the maroons ..

 

County Five

Chris Atkins, Jack Angus, Davy Heckles and Jay Corbett also got game time although Jay's yellow card for a high tackle means his was cut a bit short.

The appearances were also particularly notable for Atkins and Heckles. The former has now played for the County at every age group, while it was a County debut at all levels for Davy at the age of 37.

Former Westies also featured strongly with Adam Brown scoring a tremendous try down the left wing. The team goes again next Saturday when they take on Staffordshire at Hollow Drift.
