Our hosts, sitting at the bottom of the table, named a young side with many of their talented Academy side in the squad. This was bolstered by the older heads of Brown, Watson & Hartley who supported their young charges, none of whom gave up until the final whistle.
We started with a try from Max Tennant after 5 minutes which started in our own half. Max darted down the touchline to score under the Posts. Sam adding the extras.
Revis Philips stopped play to receive treatment for a “twisted knee” after finding a divot but concerns that the game would be abandoned, or that we would need to call on Dave Bennett we’re dismissed as he resumed the game

We scored 6 more times in the first half, Matt Siddle finished off a backs move to touch down under the posts and then there was some confusion. Will Hilditch chipped ahead but appeared to fumble the touchdown, Horden we’re awarded the scrum but from the subsequent maul Chris Atkins and Adam Hutchinson grounded the ball - the try was awarded to Hutch.
Jay Corbett was next to get on the score sheet before Will Hilditch jinked his way through the opposition defence to score under the posts. (right). Jay added another score, a trade mark from the back of the scrum. Just on half time Ryan added to the score sheet, Jay took the ball from the back of the scrum offloading to Roo who score between the posts. Sam converted from behind the posts. |

The Second half started much the same way as the first finished - a backs move got the ball to Max only for him to be tackled short of the line passing the ball to Sam who touched down.
Max got his second shortly after taking the score to 57-0
The game then hit a lull, both sides defending and Horden were unlucky not to score on 2 occasions.
It was Chris Atkins who broke the deadlock, taking the ball on our 22 and ran the length of the pitch only to be tackled short of the line. Davy Heckles was the man on his shoulder who took the ball and scored (above).
Ten minutes later It was Roo's turn to run the length of the pitch, but he will admit the try line seemed to get further away. There was no one with him so he had to put in the effort and score himself!
Overall a great team performance, but special mentions to Chris Atkins, who disrupted the Horden line out and was dangerous in the loose but it was Will Corbett who was awarded Man of the Match. Will is building in confidence, didn’t miss a tackle all afternoon and was dangerous in the loose. We’ll done Will!
