The rest weekend for first teams saw a youthful Stags take on a far more experienced Seaham squad in an enertaining game at Brinkburn.

The Stags were missing their own experienced players in Tim Blades and Andy Turner, who were  both away, with second row Will Corbett going down with Covid on the Sarturday morning.

As a result a dozen of the matchday squad were in last year's Academy with Sam Knight and Raphael Nicholas making their senior debuts.The former making a 50 metre break up the right wing on his first touch after Zac Southern had to limp off in the first half..

Matty Baggs and Martin Todd got second half tries for the Stags and youthful legs had Seaham on the back foot in the closing stages. The latest Baggs to wear the West shirt did have a chance to win the game with a late penalty but was just wide.

The future is bright.
