Several Former Dragons DSC swimmers competed in the DSE Open Long Course Championships 2005 (May 6-8) held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. This championship allowed swimmers the opportunity to fine tune in preparation for this weekends inaugural Paralympic World Cup being held in Manchester.
The weekend was a mix of swimmers finalising their preparations for the Paralympic World Cup by trying to assess whether they were in top form, and others who were holding back for the following weekend's competition and not giving too much away to their rivals about they're form.
There was, however, some fine performances from the former Dragons DSC swimmers competing in the meet with Liz Johnson setting a new European Record in the SB6 100m Breaststroke and Gareth Duke breaking the British Record in the S6 400m Freestyle.
