Dragons Disabled Swimming Club Awards 2009

The Dragons Disabled Swimming Club's 2008 Awards were handed out tonight (07/02/09) with Sophie Hodges taking both awards.

Sophie with her trophies!

The first award handed out was for the Most Improved Swimmer. This trophy is decided upon by the coaching staff and is awarded to the swimmer who they feel has made the biggest improvement throughout the year in both training and competition. It was a difficult decision again this year but a concensus was reached and the trophy was given to Sophie Hodges. This time last year Sophie wasn't able to swim in the main pool without any assistance, while now she swims by herself in the 25m pool and attends the Long Course sessions in Cardiff. The trophy was presented to Sophie by David Roberts CBE.

The final award given out was for the Swimmer's Swimmer of the Year. This award is decided by the swimmers who have to vote for their favourite three swimmers based on their efforts throughout the year. The result was an overwhelming victory for Sophie Hodges, completing a clean sweep of the awards.
