IPC World Swimming Championships 2006 - Day 5

Dragons Coach David Roberts picked up his 5th medal at the World Championships by winning a Bronze medal in the Sm7 200m Individual Medley in a time of 2:51.53. The race was won by American World Record holder Rudy Garcia-Tolson with Chinaís Rong Tian taking the Silver.

Another former Dragon was involved in the performance of the evening as far As Great Britain was concerned as Gareth Duke picked up a Bronze as part of a GB clean sweep in the SM6 200m Individual Medley. The race was won by Sascha Kindred, lowering his own World Record to 2:46.20, Matthew Whorwood picked up the silver, clocking 2:56.28, just edging out Gareth Duke, who completed the GB 1-2-3 in a time of 2:56.64.

 

Natalie Jones broke her own World Record in the Womenís SB6 200m Individual Medley in a time of 3:16.70 finishing ahead of Chinaís Fuying Jiang while former Dragons swimmers Nyree Lewis took Bronze and Liz Johnson took fourth.

James Crisp won his first individual Gold of the championships by winning S9 400m Freestyle in a World Record time of 4:22.60. Rob Welbourn set a new European Record while taking Silver in the S10 400m Freestyle.
