Dragons DSC swimmer Katrina Mitchell and the club's Assistant Coach David Roberts swam in the DSE Open Long Course Championships held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield this weekend (7,8,9/07/06)
This event gave the top British swimmers a chance to post a qualifying time for the IPC World Swimming Championships which are being held in Durban, South Africa, at the end of this year. David Roberts managed to get a qualifying time in the 100m Freestyle, and many other top GB swimmers also posted qualifying times.
This gala was run in a heats and finals basis with the heats seeing the swimmers compete against others in their disability class, while the finals were operated on a Multi-Disability format, similar to the one used at the Commonwealth Games (see the Melbourne 2006 pages on this site for a full explanation).
